A suspected novel coronavirus (COVID-19) patient admitted to the Safdarjung Hospital committed suicide on March 18 by jumping from the hospital building.

According to the police, the deceased was a 35-year old man from Punjab with a travel history to Sydney. The man was admitted to the hospital from the IGI Airport on March 18 at about 9 p.m. only as a suspected Covid-19 case. "He came from Sydney on March 18. The deceased was staying in Sydney for last one year. He was having headache," the officer said.
Speaking to IANS, Safdarjung Hospital spokesperson said, "Yes a person has committed suicide by jumping from the hopsital building. However, we are yet to ascertain if he was Covid-19 positive." According to the police, a PCR call was received at around 9.50 p.m. informing them about the incident. On March 18, the total number of positive Covid-19 cases in India reached 151. Till date, three deaths have been reported in the country due to the pandemic, one each from Delhi, Maharashtra and Karnataka.
