Lab assistant posing as doctor at PHC for several years gets notice
Times of India Oct 31, 2018
A lab assistant posing as a doctor at a Thadasighatt primary health centre (PHC) in Bengaluru was finally caught on October 30 by the health department.
The man had been posing as a doctor, treating patients for several years. It started when sometime back, the doctor at the PHC was absent. The lab assistant took over as doctor and over the course of several years, managed to build trust with patients, and set up a private practice near the PHC, diverting all the patients to his centre. After a few complaints from the public, the health department decided to investigate and handed the man a notice. The lab assistant, however, has denied such allegations, claiming that he only dispensed drugs to poor patients in the absence of doctors.
