Jipmer starts IT wing

Jawharlal Institute of Post Graduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER) today created new integrated ‘IT Wing’.
A Jipmer release said, this is as per the Government of India guidelines and recommended by IT Advisory Committee consisting of external experts from NIC, Puducherry, Pondicherry University, Pondicherry Engineering College, and BSNL Pondicherry. Prof Dr Ravi Kumar Chittoria has been made the Nodal Officer of newly created IT Wing. Inaugurating the wing, Jipmer Director Dr S C Parija said that for smooth functioning of IT Wing, a Committee has been formed. A 24X7 Helpline is going to be started to solve the day-to-day IT issues, he added.
Dr Parija said that most of these IT activities are implemented as per the Government of India policy of ‘Digital India’.
Some of the IT achievements includes ‘Campus Digitalization Service’, ‘Campus Wi-Fi Service’, ‘GIGW based JIPMER Website’, ‘Digitalization of Central Library’, ‘CCTV Monitoring of public places and security’, ‘Commissioning of additional 100 Mbps NKN connectivity in Karaikal Campus’,‘Dial JIPMER Service’, ‘Patient-Attendant Tele-Interaction Service in ICUs’, ‘Tele-Monitoring of Sick Patients’, ‘Tele-Evidence Service’, ‘Tele-Health Camps’ and among others.
Dr. Parija also said that various upcoming IT projects are ‘Community Radio’, ‘Tele-Air Ambulance, TV & Recording Studio’, ‘Telemedicine Set Up in JIPMER Rural & Urban Health Centres’, ‘Telemedicine Centre in JIPMER Karaikal Campus’, ‘New Community Radio in JIPMER Karaikal Campus’, ‘Internet Radio & Digital Signages’, ‘Advanced Telemedicine’ and ‘GeM Registration’.
He highlighted the future IT Programmes like ‘Medical Drones’, ‘Health Kiosks’, ‘Online Courses’, ‘Cloud Management’ and ‘Cyber Clinics’.
