E-classrooms to come up at Jipmer

JIPMER, Puducherry has proposed to set up e-classrooms for sharing medical education with other medical colleges across the country.
According to a statement from Jawharlal Institute of Medical Education and Research, many students who are not able to get admission in JIPMER remain cut off from high integrated medical education being given to students of JIPMER. With setting up of such e-classrooms the medical knowledge will easily be made available to all the medical students across the country. Being a Regional Resource Centre (RRC) for South India for Telemedicine, JIPMER is fully equipped with state of art technology including National Knowledge Network (NKN) high bandwidth internet connectivity supplied by National Informatics Centre (NIC) Puducherry, the statement said.
The e-Classrooms are being developed as part of activity of National Medical College Network (NMCN) Project of Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (MOHFW), Govt of India available in JIPMER since 2015. The National Medical College Network (NMCN) project has been envisaged to interlink all Medical Colleges of the country with high speed optic fiber backbone from National Knowledge Network (NKN). Information and Communication Technology Systems for Tele-education, Knowledge sharing, Continuous Medical Education (CME), and capacity building for Students, Doctors, medical experts, and Citizens. Under this project, a high definition Videoconferencing Systems based setup with Audio and Visual, Control system and other accessories are provided.
