Dr. Parimal Sarda, a Pathologist from Ahmedabad donated his stem cells to save the life of a 11-year old thalassemia-major patient.
The 39-year old doctor who works at Vedanta Hemato Oncology Clinic mentioned that he decided to become a donor after witnessing the suffering that young cancer and thalassemia patients experience. The recipient's and the doctor's cells showed a ten-on-ten match, a month after Dr. Sarda had registered as a stem cell donor.
