As malaria situation spirals, district health officials gear up

Malaria is taking a serious form as more and more people are getting affected by the disease even as the district health unit is taking all steps deal with it in the northern Tripura district of Dhalai.
Recently, some cases of malaria attacks have been reported from the hilly hamlets in the subdivisions of Ambassa and Gandacharra. Altogether, three kids have succumbed to death. People are blaming the doctors of being irresponsible and lack of preparation of the health department as the district has long been malaria drug-resistant region and massive deaths have occurred even three years ago.
This year also thousands of malaria positive cases have been diagnosed in the here early in August. In this connection, a medical officer has been served a show cause notice. Meanwhile, the news of fresh malaria attacks have reported, adding to the problem. However, the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dr. Saradindu Riang has claimed that preparations to combat malaria effectively have been taken and the intensive efforts are on to reach out to infected people in the remote villages.
