Women with threatened preterm labor followed by term delivery have an increased risk of spontaneous preterm birth in subsequent pregnancies: A population based cohort study
BJOG: An International Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology Feb 17, 2019
Cho GJ, et al. - Researchers conducted a population-based cohort study to evaluate how the history of threatened preterm labor (TPL) followed by term delivery is associated with the risk of spontaneous preterm delivery (PTD) in subsequent pregnancy. Analyzing data of the National Health Insurance Claims Database and a national health-screening program for infants and children in South Korea, they included 115,629 women who had their first singleton delivery in 2010 and a subsequent second singleton delivery between 2011 and 2015. Outcomes suggest that compared to those with history of prior PTD, a lower risk of PTD during subsequent pregnancy was evident among women with history of TPL followed by term delivery, but compared to those who delivered at term without TPL, these women still display a significantly increased risk of PTD.
