Will a chlorhexidine-fluoride mouthwash reduce plaque and gingivitis?
International Journal of Dental Hygiene Jun 15, 2018
Elkerbout TA, et al. - Authors evaluated the effectiveness of a chlorhexidine (CHX) mouthwash (MW) containing sodium fluoride (NaF) compared to a CHX - MW alone on the parameters of plaque, gingivitis and discoloration. Controlled clinical trials conducted in human subjects with good general health and without removable prosthesis were the inclusion criteria. Without reducing CHX efficacy with respect to plaque and gingivitis scores, the presence of NaF and CHX may be seen in the same MW. Also, findings did not suggest any difference in the development of tooth discoloration.
