Which factors determine affected sites in hidradenitis suppurativa?
Dermatology Jan 12, 2020
Benhadou F, et al. - Researchers conducted multivariate regression analyses in a cohort of 1,138 people in order to discover whether an area of the body will be affected by hidradenitis suppurativa (HS). They found that the body sites affected occurred in specific combinations that were influenced by gender and body mass index. They revealed unexpected associations in some sites and other comorbidities such as inflammatory diseases, acne conglobata, or dissecting folliculitis of the scalp. Overall, such correlations were crucial to unravel a disease as a variable as HS and recognize pathophysiological mechanisms to enable the provision of personalized management.
