Visual processing in patients with age-related macular degeneration performing a face detection test

Vottonen P, et al. – This research aspired to assess the visual processing of faces in age–related macular degeneration (AMD) patients. It also ascertained if this would be improved by anti–vascular endothelial growth factor therapy. The data displayed that monocular wet AMD distinctly affected face–specific brain electrophysiological components. The anti–vascular endothelial growth factor treatment, nevertheless, did not improve the binocular face detection ability.
