Variability in the interpretation of grey-scale ultrasound features in assessing thyroid nodules: A systematic review and meta-analysis
European Journal of Radiology May 15, 2020
Liu H, Ma AL, Zhou YS, et al. - Researchers conducted this systematic review and meta-analysis to examine the interobserver agreement of different thyroid imaging report and data system (TI-RADS) and ultrasound features. Studies investigating interobserver agreement between different radiologists have been involved. Seven studies including 927 individuals were eligible for this analysis. Subgroup analyses found that the key factors affecting the variability were experience/training, the number of observers and the number of patients. For the TI-RADS categories, the interobserver agreement was moderate. Potential for improvement remains, particularly in terms of echogenicity, shape, margin and echogenic foci, description accuracy and the targeted training required.
