Utility index and patient-reported outcome measures in glaucomatous patients comparing with normal participants
Clinical Ophthalmology Feb 27, 2021
Rojananuangnit K, et al. - Researchers conducted this case-control study to assess both utility indices and patient-reported outcome measure (PROMs) using generic and eye specific quality of life (QOL) in glaucomatous patients compared with the normal population. The European Quality of Life questionnaire (EQ-5D-5L), the European visual analogue scale (EQ-VAS) and the visual function questionnaire 28 (Thai version) (VFQ-28) were interviewed by normal and glaucoma participants. The visual function questionnaire utility index (VFQ-UI) and generic utility index from EQ-5D-5L have been calculated. Participants in the study were 47 normal and 127 glaucomatous patients. The authors concluded that the utility index from the VFQ-UI was a relevant PROMs for assessing the QOL of glaucomatous patients in terms of visual function specificity and acceptable validity.
