Use of proteomics to investigate kidney function decline over 5 years

Clinical Journal of the American Society of Nephrology Aug 18, 2017

Carlsson AC, et al. – This study was planned to examine associations between a multiplex panel of 80 circulating proteins associated with cardiovascular pathology or inflammation, and estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) decline per year and chronic kidney disease (CKD) incidence. An association of several circulating proteins involved in phosphate homeostasis, inflammation, apoptosis, extracellular matrix remodeling, angiogenesis, and endothelial dysfunction with worsening kidney function, was noticed. Results indicated multiplex proteomics as a promising way of discovering novel aspects of kidney disease pathology.
