Urine complement proteins and the risk of kidney disease progression and mortality in type 2 diabetes
Diabetes Care Aug 31, 2018
Vaisar T, et al. - In individuals with type 2 diabetes and proteinuric diabetic kidney disease (DKD), researchers investigated the relationship of urine complement proteins with progression to end-stage renal disease (ESRD) or death. They quantified the urinary abundance of 12 complement proteins in a predominantly Mexican-American cohort with type 2 diabetes and proteinuric DKD using targeted mass spectrometry. Findings revealed that urine abundance of several complements and complement regulatory proteins was strongly related to progression to ESRD and death in a largely Mexican-American cohort with type 2 diabetes and proteinuric DKD.
