Urinary biomarkers of kidney tubular damage and risk of cardiovascular disease and mortality in elders
American Journal of Kidney Diseases Apr 03, 2018
Jotwani V, et al. - The association between tubular damage [measured by urine α1-microglobulin (A1M), amino-terminal propeptide of type III procollagen (PIIINP), and neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin (NGAL)] and higher risks for cardiovascular events and mortality among elders was determined. In this case-cohort study, including participants from the Health, Aging, and Body Composition (Health ABC) Study, kidney tubular damage was identified as an independent risk factor for cardiovascular disease and death among elders.
