Upregulation of long non-coding RNA M26317 correlates with tumor progression and poor prognosis in gastric cancer

Human Pathology May 05, 2018

Li L, et al. - Authors examined the expression and clinical significance of long non-coding RNA (lnc RNA) in gastric cancer, by applying microarray analysis to obtain expression profiles of protein coding genes and lncRNAs in tumor and paired adjacent non-tumor tissues. A total of 41 lncRNAs were upregulated and 31 lncRNAs were downregulated more than 2-fold in gastric cancer vs noncancerous tissues. Yielded results affirmed that M26317 was upregulated in gastric cancer tissues. A connection was demonstrated between the expression of M26317 with patient age, size of tumor, Lauren's classification, depth of invasion, lymph node and distant metastasis, TNM stage and poor prognosis. However, it did not appear to be related to gender, location of tumor, and differentiation. Researchers concluded that M26317 possibly played a significant role in malignant transformation and metastasis of gastric cancer.
