Unicompartmental vs total knee arthroplasty for knee osteoarthritis

Migliorini F, et al. - Authors conducted a meta-analysis of clinical trials to compare unicompartmental knee arthroplasty (UKA) vs total knee arthroplasty (TKA). They assessed the following databases in October 2018: Cochrane Systematic Reviews, Scopus, PubMed and Google Scholar. This study included a total of 13,789 patients. A reduced survivorship but better clinical and functional performances were reported with UKA compared to TKA. Moreover, in the UKA cohort, shorter surgical duration, lower total estimated blood loss and quicker hospitalization length were noted.
