Two years clinical outcomes with the state-of-the-art PCI for the treatment of bifurcation lesions: A sub-analysis of the SYNTAX II study
Catheterization and Cardiovascular Interventions Aug 19, 2019
Modolo R, Kogame N, Komiyama H, et al. - Three-vessel disease individuals recruited in the SYNTAX II trial (n = 454) were categorized in individuals with ≥ 1 treated bifurcation (n = 126), and without bifurcation (n = 281) by the researchers in order to ascertain the influence of bifurcation treatment on 2-years clinical outcomes when a state-of-the-art percutaneous coronary interventions (PCI) strategy was followed. In 126 individuals, a total of 145 bifurcations were treated. Major adverse cardio and cerebrovascular events (MACCE) happened in 75/407 individuals at 2 years. A trend toward greater occurrence in bifurcation was exhibited by target lesion failure (TLF). Definite stent thrombosis did not vary at 2-year among groups. Hence, bifurcation treatment in individuals with three-vessel disease undergoing state-of-the-art PCI had a comparable event rate of MACCE however, it was correlated with a trend toward a higher incidence of TLF in comparison with non-bifurcation lesions.
