Trends and disparities in cardiovascular mortality among U.S. adults with and without self-reported diabetes mellitus, 1988–2015
Diabetes Care Aug 25, 2018
Cheng YJ, et al. - Among 677,051 adults with and without self-reported diabetes, researchers analyzed trends and demographic differences in mortality due to cardiovascular disease (CVD) and CVD subtypes from 1988 to 2015. The findings from the present study suggested that vs women with diabetes, men with diabetes had larger reductions in CVD death. Although heart failure and arrhythmia deaths did not change, large reductions were noted for ischemic heart disease (IHD) and stroke mortality. The present data indicated that all race and education groups benefitted to a similar degree, however, significant gaps remained across groups.
