Treatment patterns and outcomes of stable hips in infants with ultrasonic dysplasia
Journal of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons Jan 04, 2019
Kim HKW, et al. - Researchers analyzed 80 newborns [107 hips including 65 hips treated with Pavlik harness (PH)] aged ≤12 weeks to estimate the treatment patterns for stable ultrasonic dysplasia (UD) and also to define the consequences of PH treatment or observation (OB). They observed that candidates older at the time of initial sonogram and those with lower head coverage were more suitable to be treated with PH. They noticed 93% of the cases in the OB group and 87% in the PH group had a good radiographic result at a 2-year follow-up period.
