Treatment of periprosthetic joint infection of the elbow: 15-year experience at a single institution
Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery Jul 26, 2018
Zmistowski B, et al. - Authors described the results of elbow periprosthetic joint infection (PJI) treatment at a tertiary-care referral center. A decreased rate of recurrent PJI resulted with 2-stage revision. For irrigation and débridement (I&D) and component retention, they noted a probability of certain patients (those with poor health or well-fixed components) to be more suitable, with a demonstrated 50% success rate over a period of 3 years. In both groups, higher reinfection rates resulted with longer-term follow-up.
