Treat-to-target study for improved outcome in polyarticular juvenile idiopathic arthritis
Annals of Rheumatic Diseases Apr 22, 2020
Klein A, Minden K, Hospach A, et al. - This study assumed that a guided treat-to-target (T2T) technique is superior to routine care in polyarticular juvenile idiopathic arthritis (pJIA) in terms of reaching a clinical remission after 12 months of treatment. Researchers recruited a total of 63 patients with early and active pJIA. They compared T2T patients with a cohort of matched controls of patients with pJIA with unguided therapy documented by BIKER. The T2T concept was found to be beneficial and superior to unguided treatment. After 12 months, high rates of patients reached juvenile arthritis disease activity score-minimal disease activity and juvenile arthritis disease activity remission. It was noted that approximately half of the patients achieved their therapy goals without a biologic.
