Toric IOL in combined DMEK and cataract surgery
Clinical Ophthalmology Apr 16, 2021
Trindade BLC, et al. - In this retrospective study, researchers presented a case series in which a toric intraocular lens (IOL) was used in combined Descemet membrane endothelial keratoplasty (DMEK) and cataract surgery to correct corneal astigmatism. Four eyes that had a toric IOL implanted in combined cataract and DMEK surgery were involved. In all cases, the manifest refractive cylinder was reduced, and uncorrected and best-corrected vision improved. In certain cases of combined DMEK and cataract surgery for Fuchs endothelial dystrophy, surgeons may recommend using toric IOLs.
