Tissue integration of zirconia and titanium implants with and without buccal dehiscence defects – A histologic and radiographic preclinical study
Clinical Oral Implants Research May 04, 2019
Thoma DS, et al. - Soft (primary outcome) and hard tissue integration of two-piece titanium and zirconia dental implants with/without buccal dehiscence defects was assessed histologically and radiographically by researchers in this analysis. According to results, when buccal dehiscence was presented, titanium implants showed significant loss of peri-implant mucosal height vs zirconia implants with a modified surface due to a greater apical shift of the margo mucosae. The data presented in this work showed a modified zirconia surface enhanced osseointegration.
