Three-month outcomes of laser vision correction for myopia and hyperopia in adults with amblyopia
Journal of Refractive Surgery Aug 14, 2020
Liu X, Schallhorn SC, Hannan SJ, et al. - Researchers conducted this retrospective review to assess the visual outcomes of laser vision correction in adults with myopic and hyperopic amblyopia. They analyzed records of patients diagnosed as having amblyopia who had laser refractive surgery between February 2013 and October 2017. The uncorrected distance visual acuity (UDVA), subjective manifest refraction, and corrected distance visual acuity have been analyzed at the 3-month postoperative time point. The sample consisted of 164 patients (323 eyes). The authors discovered that the percentage of eyes with UDVA of 20/20 or better was 16.9% in the amblyopia group and 61.9% in the fellow eye group. In adult patients with amblyopia, laser vision correction was found to be safe and effective.
