The value of prostatic specific antigen in diagnosis of polycystic ovarian syndrome in adolescent girls
Journal of Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology Nov 29, 2017
Tokmak A, et al. - Researchers performed this study to assess and compare the serum total prostatic specific antigen (PSA) levels in adolescent girls in with and without polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) to show whether evaluation of PSA levels has a diagnostic benefit over existing diagnostic criteria. In adolescent girls, the serum total PSA level seemed not a predictor of PCOS. This finding could be linked to extempore nature of tissues capable of PSA production and lack of sufficient exposure interval to hyperandrogenemia, rather than lack of stimulatory relationship between serum androgens.
