The usefulness of electrodiagnostic studies in the diagnosis and management of neuromuscular disorders
Muscle & Nerve Apr 11, 2018
Lindstrom H, et al. - Researchers examined the utility of electrodiagnostic (EDX) studies with regard to the patient's diagnosis and subsequent management of neuromuscular disorders. Additionally, they attempted to determine the patient groups in which EDX studies were particularly useful. A change in diagnosis resulted in 51.5% of cases and a confirmation in diagnosis in resulted in 46.5% of cases, respectively, due to study results. A change was reported in the management plan in 63.4% of all cases due to the EDX studies. Older patients and patients referred in hospital were most likely to see a change in diagnosis or management plan.
