The role of soluble epoxide hydrolase in preeclampsia
Medical Hypotheses Aug 26, 2017
Santos JM, et al. – The objective here was to investigate the role of soluble epoxide hydrolase (sEH) in preeclampsia. It was reported that free?+?glucuronidated 14,15–dihydroxyeicosatrienoic acids (DHETs) levels were increased in the urine of preeclamptic women. Based on this data, the proposition put forth was that sEH expression or activity appeared to be augmented in such patients, thereby, reducing epoxyeicosatrienoic acids (EETs) and increasing blood pressure. Novel anti–hypertensive agents targeting sEH ought to be developed as therapeutics to control high blood pressure, in women with preeclampsia.
