The role of crosslinked polyethylene in reducing aggregated costs of THR in the USA
Journal of Arthroplasty Mar 06, 2019
Harris WH, et al. - In the USA, investigators examined the data to estimate the characterization of crosslinked polyethylene in the reduction of aggregated costs of THR. Using cross-linked polyethylene specifically from only registry studies and prospective, randomized, controlled studies, they calculated the incidence figures, times the cost estimates of failures to produce estimates of the cost savings from cross-linked polyethylene use. They recorded that savings might be one billion dollars per yearly cohort over a 15-year span. Overall, they concluded a decline in the costs of THR surgery in the USA with the use of crosslinked polyethylene.
