The reliability of sensor assisted soft tissue measurements in primary total knee arthroplasty (TKA)

Journal of Arthroplasty Apr 13, 2018

van der Linde J, et al. - For improving soft tissue balancing in total knee arthroplasties (TKA), a wireless device was introduced to assess femorotibial pressures. Researchers estimated the reliability of the sensor assisted wireless device. After balancing 33 TKA by conventional techniques, authors measured contact pressures using a wireless sensor 3 times in a row; twice while the examiner was blinded for the result and once while the examiner was able to see the result as visual feedback. Findings suggested a moderate to good reliability of the wireless sensor in 83% of the measurements.
