The relationship between ferritin and urate levels and risk of gout
Arthritis Research & Therapy Aug 22, 2018
Fatima T, et al. - Authors assessed the association between iron/ferritin and urate/gout. Findings suggested a correlation of ferritin with serum urate. There was an association of the increased ferritin levels with gout and flare frequency. An evidence regarding the causal effect of iron and ferritin on urate was provided in the findings. Mendelian randomization analysis suggested a respective association between a one standard deviation unit increase in iron and ferritin and 0.11 and 0.19 mg dl− 1 increases in serum urate.
