World Journal of Urology Apr 13, 2019
Zumrutbas AE, et al. - Researchers estimated 35 participants of mean age 58.8 years to analyze the consequences of Kulkarni's one-stage oral mucosa graft urethroplasty series for panurethral strictures. A mean peak flow rate of 25.4 ml/sec at the first postoperative visit was noted among the subjects. They reported recurrence during the follow-up period in 6 cases which was managed with urethral dilation (1), direct vision internal urethrotomy (2), meatoplasty (1) and re-urethroplasty (2). They observed satisfaction with surgery in 88.6% of cases, preference of repetition of the same procedure among 94.3% of subjects whereas 88.6% of subjects recommended the procedure to others. They recorded a high success rate of Kulkarni's one-stage oral mucosa graft urethroplasty technique.
