The impact of subcutaneous irrigation on wound complications after cesarean sections: A prospective randomised study

Çetin BA, et al. - Researchers performed the random assignment of 204 patients undergoing primary cesarean sections to either the subcutaneous saline irrigation group or the control group to determine the efficacy of subcutaneous saline irrigation in preventing wound complications after cesarean sections. The groups showed no significant difference in terms of surgical site infection (SSI) rates. However, the saline irrigation of subcutaneous tissue reduced the occurrences of both postoperative hematoma and seroma in these women.
