The impact of hypermobility spectrum disorders on musculoskeletal tissue stiffness: An exploration using strain elastography
Clinical Rheumatology Jul 09, 2018
Alsiri N, et al. - Authors gauged the effect of hypermobility spectrum disorders (HSDs) on musculoskeletal elasticity using strain elastography (SEL). Findings suggested seemingly lower elasticity of the musculoskeletal in people with HSD. For diagnosing and monitoring HSD, SEL could be a supplementary tool. They noted a significant reduction in the mean strain index (standard deviation) in the HSD group compared to the control group in the brachioradialis muscle 0.43 vs 0.59, patellar 0.30 vs 0.44, and Achilles tendons 0.24 vs 0.49.
