The impact of early outcome events on the effect of tranexamic acid in post-partum haemorrhage: An exploratory subgroup analysis of the WOMAN trial
BMC Pregnancy and Childbirth Jun 14, 2018
Brenner A, et al. - An exploratory subgroup analysis of the WOMAN trial was performed to assess the impact of early outcome events on the effect of tranexamic acid in post-partum haemorrhage. Observations suggested a reduced risk of maternal death from exsanguination in association with tranexamic acid after excluding early maternal deaths from the analysis. As per results, the treatment effect of tranexamic acid towards the null might have diluted by the inclusion of early deaths in the analysis. Further research seemed required exploring if tranexamic acid reduces the risk of hysterectomy for bleeding after excluding early hysterectomies.
