The impact of comorbid chronic kidney disease and diabetes on health-related quality-of-life: A 12-year community cohort study
Nephrology Dialysis Transplantation Mar 19, 2020
Wyld MLR, et al. - Researchers focused on the combined impact of chronic kidney disease (CKD) and diabetes on quality-of-life in this prospective, longitudinal cohort analysis. Participants were community-based Australians aged ≥ 25 years who took part in the Australian Diabetes, Obesity and Lifestyle study. For assessing quality-of-life, the physical component summary and mental component summary sub-scores of the Short Form (36) Health Survey were used. Findings revealed a powerful adverse influence of the combination of CKD and diabetes on quality-of-life. Significantly poorer quality-of-life was observed among participants with both diseases vs those with one condition.
