The heritability of primary angle closure anatomic traits and predictors of angle closure in South Indian siblings
American Journal of Ophthalmology May 22, 2021
Ciociola EC, Kavitha S, Sengupta S, et al. - In this prospective observational cohort study, researchers estimated the heritability of ocular biometric and anterior chamber morphologic parameters and determined predictors of angle closure concordance in South Indian probands with angle closure and their siblings. There were 345 sibling pairs who took part. Angle parameters were not heritable, but iris, anterior chamber, and lens parameters were. Angle closure pathogenesis may be influenced by lens thickness and lens vault. Siblings who are older or have shallower anterior chamber depths may require more vigilant disease monitoring.
