The efficacy of mini-c-arm fluoroscopy for the closed reduction of distal radius fractures in adults: A randomized controlled trial
The Journal of Hand Surgery Aug 31, 2017
Dailey SK, et al. – Researchers presumed that reduction quality of distal radius (DR) fractures in the emergency department (ED) would not differ based on the use of mini–c–arm fluoroscopy versus standard reduction techniques. Data reported that fluoroscopy neither enhanced reduction quality nor was safe as it exposed both the patient and practitioner to unnecessary radiation. Moreover, it increased overall reduction attempts and subjective difficulty of reduction and hence, mini–c–arm fluoroscopy seems unnecessary for the initial closed reduction of adult DR fractures.
