Oral Diseases Feb 14, 2019
Tasdemir Z, et al. - In this randomized split-mouth clinical trial, a sum of 36 candidates to analyze the influences of ozone therapy on clinical and biochemical parameters among subjects with moderate to severe generalized periodontitis after non-surgical periodontal treatment. They observed improvement in plaque index (PI), gingival index (GI), probing depth (PD), the percentage of bleeding on probing, the percentage of pockets deeper than 5mm and CAL, and percentage of ≥3 mm clinical attachment level (CAL). They noticed a reduction in all inflammatory parameters, pentraxin-3 (PTX-3), high sensitivity C-reactive protein (Hs-CRP), and interleukin-1β (IL-1β), at 3-months follow-up. Only, a significant decrease in PTX-3 levels between baseline and 3-months follow-up was remarkably observed.
