The effects of methotrexate and hydroxychloroquine combination therapy vs methotrexate monotherapy in early rheumatoid arthritis patients
Rheumatology Sep 08, 2018
Schapink L, et al. - In a controlled cohort study, researchers if methotrexate and hydroxychloroquine (MTX-HCQ) combination therapy (CTG) had any added value in early rheumatoid arthritis (RA). They assessed RA patients on MTX with or without HCQ. In these patients, they noted a greater efficacy of MTX–HCQ after 6 months vs MTX monotherapy, which was different from indirect comparison review data. No significant differences between the two strategies were seen after 12 months, probably because of treat-to-target efforts. Findings suggested comparable proportion of patients starting biologic DMARD treatment during the observation period.
