The effect of nurse prescribers on glycaemic control in type 2 diabetes: A systematic review and meta-analysis
International Journal of Nursing Studies Sep 02, 2017
Tabesh M, et al. – The effectiveness of nurse–led clinics was explored for glycaemic control in patients with type 2 diabetes. Results of this analysis revealed no clear evidence of benefit on glycaemic control when nurses undertook the prescribing work along with a doctor and other practitioners. However, when nurses replaced physicians, the glycaemic control was comparable between nurses and doctors. These findings suggested that the nurse–led clinic might be a useful approach in regions where there was limited access to doctor–led services.
