The effect of ceramic type and background color on shade reproducibility of all-ceramic restorations
Journal of Prosthodontics Dec 14, 2018
Al Hamad KQ, et al. - Researchers gauged the impacts of background color on shade reproduction using CAD/CAM zirconia and lithium disilicate ceramics. They prepared a plastic tooth for an all-ceramic crown, scanned, and tooth shaped light background dies were manufactured. Findings suggested an impact of ceramic type, background, and translucency on the ceramic color. Compared to zirconia, lithium disilicate appeared to be better in shade reproduction. The target shade was better matched by less-opaque materials, while opaque materials and low translucencies were more suitable for dark backgrounds.
