The diagnostic accuracies of the 2012 SLICC criteria and the proposed EULAR/ACR criteria for systemic lupus erythematosus classification are comparable
Lupus May 09, 2019
Dahlström O, et al. - For the first time, researchers independently evaluated the recent new criteria, proposed in a joint effort by the European League Against Rheumatism (EULAR) and the American College of Rheumatology (ACR) for the classification of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) with the overarching goal to identify potential participants for clinical studies. In addition, they compared these criteria with older classification grounds using an adult Scandinavian study population of confirmed SLE cases and individuals with SLE-mimicking conditions. Outcomes revealed that with respect to diagnostic sensitivity, specificity and accuracy, the 2012 Systemic Lupus International Collaborating Clinics and the proposed EULAR/ACR classification criteria had comparable results. However, compared with the 1982 ACR criteria, EULAR/ACR classification criteria had lower specificity for SLE.
