The dangerous pattern of concurrent use of alcohol and cocaine among drunk-drivers of Northeast Italy
Alcohol and Alcoholism Jul 16, 2018
Snenghi R, et al. - The pervasiveness of drug and polydrug usage was investigated among drunk-drivers during the driving license regranting program to evaluate value of including toxicological tests on hair and urine samples in the process. Researchers performed this study on 2,160 drunk-drivers examined at Legal Medicine and Toxicology Unit of the University of Padova over a 3-year-period (2014–2017). As per findings, they recommend performing toxicological as well as alcohological monitoring for drug and polydrug use among drunk-drivers, particularly in the regranting procedure. Implementation of this procedure could offer enhanced knowledge regarding the dimensions of the issue, providing a powerful means for the reduction of driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs.
