Journal of Periodontology Apr 04, 2019
Karaaslan F, et al. - Researchers studied 99 candidates to evaluate the relationship between stage-grade of periodontitis and sleep quality and also to analyze the consequence of periodontitis on the quality of life. Demographic information, Oral Health Impact Profile-14 (OHIP-14) and Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) were the basis of the questionnaire. They reported clinical attachment loss (AL) of 4.03±2.46 mm and probing depth (PD) of 4.27±1.55 mm as the mean clinical values of cases. They also found the mean of the global Oral Health Impact Profile-14 (OHIP-14) score of 13.43±6.23 and the mean Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) global score of 6.57±3.53. They concluded an association of stage-grade of periodontitis with short sleep duration, low sleep quality and low oral health-related quality of life (OHRQoL).
