The association between smoking and blood pressure in men: A cross-sectional study

Li G, et al. - The association between cigarette smoking and blood pressure in men was explored. This cross-sectional study demonstrated that in current smokers, the adjusted blood pressure was lower compared to nonsmokers and former smokers. Except for pulse pressure (PP), no significant dose-dependent effect of current smoking was observed on blood pressure indices. The authors found a significant association of smoking cessation with an increased risk of hypertension. However, for hypertension, current smoking was not a risk factor.
