The association between buccal mucosa thickness and periimplant bone loss and attachment loss: A cross-sectional study
Implant Dentistry Oct 04, 2018
Mailoa J, et al. - Researchers evaluated whether there is a relationship between buccal mucosa thickness and periimplant attachment loss after 1 year of function. They included a total of 28 patients (14 periimplantitis implants and 14 healthy implants). The midfacial recession (REC) was greater and the clinical attachment level (CAL) also tended to be higher when the midfacial soft tissue thickness was thin. After 1 year of function, buccal mucosa thickness and periimplant bone loss on mesial and distal sites of the implant were not seen to differ significantly.
