Surgical management of acute compartment syndrome and sequential complications
BMC Musculoskeletal Disorders Mar 08, 2019
Du W, et al. - Between January 2008 and December 2012, 46 individuals were analyzed to study the surgical management of acute compartment syndrome along with its subsequent complications. Researchers observed necrotic muscles and nerves, damaged vascular, and critical foot deformities among all the candidates. Each candidate was given systemic support and wound debridement to promote wound healing in the early stage. Various medical measures like installation of Ilizarov external frames, arthrodesis, osteotomy fusion, arthroplasty, or tendon lengthening surgery, were performed to obtain adequate clinical consequences among cases with grave complications. They observed the return of all individuals to weight-bearing walking and daily exercises as well.
