Surfactant protein-D, a potential mediator of inflammation in axial spondyloarthritis
Rheumatology Jul 07, 2018
Munk HL, et al. - Experts assessed the surfactant protein-D (SP-D) serum level and the molecular size distribution in patients with untreated axial spondyloarthritis (axSpA) vs control subjects. In axSpA, local or systemic inflammatory responses could be enhanced by the predominance of low molecular weight (LMW) oligomeric variants of SP-D. Findings suggested that high molecular weight (HMW)/LMW ratio and CRP or composite diseases outcome measures were not associated.
