Suppressed adiponectin levels and increased adiponectin response to oral glucose load in lean women with severe acne normalizes after isotretinoin treatment

Dermatology Dec 07, 2017

Aydin K, et al. - An inquiry was conducted regarding the adiponectin levels in postadolescent severe acne and the effect of isotretinoin on adiponectin levels. Differential regulation of adiponectin levels was noted in women with severe acne and healthy controls. Findings depicted that circulating basal levels in patients were suppressed and illustrated a rise in response to oral glucose load. An amelioration was discovered in the suppression of baseline adiponectin after 6 months of isotretinoin treatment, reaching levels similar to those of healthy controls.
